This section shows some interesting games played and annotated by our members.

Battle of Hastings

Hastings is one of the oldest international tournaments and is now in its 99th edition. Past winners include Capablanca, Alekhine, Botvinnik and Karpov, though it is somewhat less strong now. Martin Burrows and Lewis Turner both scored 4.5/9 in this year’s event, and played a very exciting game in the last round. In the position below, Lewis has sacrificed a rook for a dangerous attack.
